There are a lot of checks I can’t fill on the fashion magazine constructed beauty checklist. No long glossy curls, no long lean legs, no smooth unwrinkled skin. But my daughter thinks the strands of white in my hair are glitter.
I have been trained in a strict glossy magazine definition of beauty and often fail to see the beauty in my own laugh lines. But today I’m going to agree with my son when he tells me the moles on the back of my neck are a constellation. By expanding our definition of beauty, we are able to fit ourselves inside of it.
