Clear Winters have the contrast typical of Winters, they also have a clarity in their features, reminiscent of Spring. They commonly have very bright and striking eyes that allow them to shine in colors that might overwhelm others.
Deep Winter, also known as Dark Winter, is set apart by its depth. The colors are cool, strongly saturated, and relatively pure.
Cool or True Winter is flowing into the Summer category. It is the coolest of all the seasons and includes a bit of a blue undertone in each of its recommended colors.

Savannah really shines in silver, her eyes pop, and her skin looks vibrant rather than waxy.
There are so many individual colors in Savannah’s dark hazel eyes and the hunter green spotlights this. The wrong color leaves her eyes looking muddy and flat.
Savannah has such beautiful contrast in her coloring and cobalt blue has equal strength. According to David Zyla in Color Your Style, this would be her dramatic “look at me” color, and matches the color of her veins on the underside of her wrist.
Cool, contrasted Winter complexions can wear a depth of coloring that overwhelms less pigmented complexions. The depth in their eyes, hair, and lips is made more vibrant by corresponding colors.
The fuchsia pink mirrors the pretty pigments in Savannah’s lips and cheeks. It has no orange as fleshy colors can be particularly unflattering on Winter complexions.
One of the unique aspects of Deep Winter is their ability to wear shaded colors, or hues with black mixed into them. Burgundy picks up the subtle highlights in her hair and shows off its shine.
While many women find safety in wearing black, Savannah glows in it. The same goes for pure, optic white without any yellow.

Hi, I just wanted to point out that you have Zhang Ziyi listed as both Clear Winter and Cool Winter. I was wondering which one she really falls under. Thank you!
CardiganEmpire says
Thanks for bringing this mistake to my attention. I believe Zhang Ziyi is a Cool Winter. She shines in the sharp blacks and whites, but not so much in the warmer coral or chiffon of Clear Winter. Fan BingBing on the other hand is a much better fit for these colors. Hope that helps. Thanks again.

You sounds like a possible Warm Autumn or Warm Spring, but I’d have to see a picture to be sure. I’d be happy to help you with a virtual color analysis if you’re interested. There’s a link to purchase at the end of the post.

Kerry Washington is actually a clear spring… Look it up! It’s more obvious if you see her eyes in her Neutrogena commercial too. Glad to finally see Lupita correctly analyzed as a clear winter though! #progress
CardiganEmpire says
T.G I’ll definitely check out Kerry Washington in the Neutrogena commercial. It’s difficult to categorize anyone without a full analysis, but hopefully this gives people ideas and direction.

Are you sure Priyanka Chopra is a winter? The pink lipstick looks clashing with her rather warm skin undertone. She looks lovely in spring colors to me.
CardiganEmpire says
It’s difficult to definitively define anyone’s coloring without a full analysis, but this is my best guess for Priyanka. With the deep contrast in her eyes, skin, and hair, I think she can pull off the depth of Winter. I’ve found other pictures of her in blood red, navy, and emerald that were stunning.

Hi!Why aren’t illustrated the yellow shades for each season as well?I mean the pictures.
Thanks!
CardiganEmpire says
Hi Diana, I tried to get all the colors on all my models, but it looks like I missed a few. I’ll continue to add to these videos and update them as I go. Thanks for watching!

Hi,
I know that I’m a winter, but will a color analysis tell me if I am a cool, deep or clear winter? Thanks!
CardiganEmpire says
Yes! The virtual color analysis will tell you the seasonal subcategory you belong in be it cool, deep, or clear. I’d love to work with you if you’re interested.

Which winter would be the equivalent of kettlewells burnished winter?

I have extremely pale skin and extremely dark hair with bright blue/green eyes. I’m pretty sure I’m a bright winter, as those colors look best on me. Can I wear Kelly green? It’s my favorite color!

Is it possible to be a “clear spring”, as a black person with brown/black eyes?
Tea says
Hello, Lovely post, thanks.
Do you think it’s possible to be somewhere between a cool and deep winter?
I feel like I have a foot in each box 🙂
