Denim: Soft Center

Walking down the soft delicious center & upper figure runway:

9 1/2″ rise and above, corseting in all the belly jiggles.
Flap pockets, when combined with a mid-rise, will round a flat bottom while flattening a round tummy.

Straight leg and wider leg openings (ice cream cones tend to topple on the catwalk.)

Slouchy boyfriends provide casual chic for feminine girlfriends.

Thank you for the post about denim for middle figures. I am a classic apple shape and a bit more pronounced after four children. I love your tips and suggestions. I was just thinking that a store or brand line needs to sell jeans, specifically advertising toward certain shapes. Then today I went on Old Navy’s site and saw that they kind of do. You can click on your body type and then a suggestion pops up of what kind of jeans would flatter you. They have one called the DREAMER for middle figures that is supposed to lift a rear and flatten a tummy. I haven’t tried it yet but I think I will next time I’m near Old Navy. I usually haven’t found their pants or jeans flattering in the past (except when I was a skinny mini girl) but perhaps they have wisened up. Anyway, just letting you know in case you don’t. Thanks again for the post. I love your site.

Quick question– What do you mean by “rise”–where should I measure? From the crotch “intersection”?

You’ve got it. To calculate the rise, measure from the crotch intersection to the top of the waistband.
