Closet-Palooza: Inspired by Closets

The Bagley Master Closet Revealed

I adore the EasyClosets.com organizational base so far.  My shoes are soldier straight and each individual closet category enjoys the luxury of it’s own drawer.  But this is just stage one.  Besides the addition of drawer pulls (my husband and I are at an aesthetic standstill at present), I’m looking forward to adding sartorial stimulation over time.  Below are a few ensemble inspiring wardrobes:

The addition of personal artwork is not for XL closets only.  The interior of closet doors or the perimeters of mirrors are ample opportunity.
A pin-board of some format can post aspirational ensembles not to mention strategic shopping lists

Lily Pulitzer Dressing Room
Quotes, color combinations, wall paper, I’m determined that my walls blossom beyond white rapidly.

Already, I’ve taken to playing Madeline Peyroux by scent of Volcano candles when I get ready in the morning.  What do you do to calm your dressing routine?   Does getting dressed even alight your anxiety?

Closet-Palooza: How to Stylize Your Closet

Having taken time to diagnose closet diseases, purge closet squatters, and classify and care for your fashion taxonomy, it is now time to prepare the display of your closet curation.

Element 1: Backdrop
Closets shan’t be an exercise in camouflage.  There needs to be a strong contrast between your clothing and your wardrobe.  White is a great starting point but a graphic pattern can also volunteer.
Experiment with old posters as wallpaper, or maps, book pages, or even fabric.

Element 2: Mirror
A full length mirror is required.  Ensure you have access to every angle of your figure, everyone else does.  Creative solutions include a collection of smaller grouped mirrors, reflective ceilings, or even shiny furniture.  In the end, nothing beats the power of a three-way mirror.

Element 3: Lighting
Whenever possible pursue natural light to illuminate your reflection but keep this color sapping thief away from your clothes. To illuminate your clothes, you want true color bulbs that provide sharp, clean, distributed lighting.  Chandeliers offer ambiance, but you may want to supplement with recessed downlights for directional light on your items.

Element 4: Hanging Structures
Straight sideways rods aren’t the only solution.  Expose your closet or just a few of your favorite pieces on non-traditional layouts. Expose your industrial, natural, eclectic leanings.

Up next is the final and ultimate reveal of the Bagley Master Closet.  Try to keep your fingernail out of your mouth.
