I Want

Today, I have a case of the “I Wants”
“I Wants” are not “I Needs.”  An “I Need” is something like a gallon of milk, shoelaces, or light bulbs.  “I Wants” include seven day trips to Santorini, Greece and double digit hair care products.
Usually when I want something, I send a link to Andrew telling him he can buy it for me and he generally responds.
“You are such a good wife and you really should have that. You should have two of those, so you have one to wear while the other is in the wash.  I’ll add to my list of all the things I need to buy you once I sell the patent to my Anti-Eating Face Mask.”
But today, I thought I’d send you my links, and then maybe you could send me your links.   Follow along,

Ted Baker is to Andrew what Kate Spade is to me.  The fabrics are woven from baby sheep dreams, and while the cuts are clean-line traditional, they have layers of surprising details imbued into each carefully crafted item.  I found this shirt for my Mister at MyHabit, and I could save $25 using the SUMMER25 coupon code, not to mention Free Shipping.  Aren’t I a frugal fantasy spender?  And generous too.

Can you not see Coco’s chubby arms bobbing beneath the cap sleeves and chubby legs dancing below the dress hem.  The colors are begging to flatter with her squishy olive skin, and The Mini Social wants her to have this frock for 25% off.

And for Baby Boyfriend, Dad would undoubtedly approve of this homage to Andrew button-up, but I love putting Levi in things that his Dad wouldn’t even consider like these khaki and navy gingham shorts.

Beauty-full Tuesday: communikate by telegraham

She lives in Portland and owns the most amazing vintage dress collection this side of the 1950s.  Whenever I’m tempted to be jealous of someone, I have to make them my friend.  Introducing Kate of communikate by telegraham.

My first insecurities and body issues were born in a thirteen year old body. I had reluctantly signed up for a beauty pageant, and was struggling to fit the perfect dress to my imperfect figure. Every dress I tried drooped on top and clung on the bottom. My dressing room tantrum triggered the appearance of the sales lady to assist my poor mother.  She appraised my figure and kindly informed me that I had a little “extra love” in the rump area. I was mortified. I didn’t want “extra love” in the rump area. I wanted a dress to fit!
As I’ve matured, my body proportions have been steady: my tush and legs will always be bigger than my bust and torso. The gene pool has given me my “pear shape figure” and there’s not much I can do to change it.
Thankfully, modern beauties like J-LO and Beyonce have hypothetically embraced their booties and expanded and redefined the beauty ratios. It turns out “extra love” can be a good thing if used correctly.
I’ve learned to turn what I thought were my flaws into strengths. I love wearing retro dresses that show off my curves, and always feel sexy with a little red lipstick and heels.

Ultimately, the greatest trick for me is a smile. In the words of Audrey Hepburn, “Happy girls are always the prettiest girls,” and I fully agree.
