I am amazed that any thoughts ever escape their way into public expression considering the gauntlet of guards inside my head. “Am I drawing undo attention to myself?” “Did I vigilantly check for any stray facial hair this morning?” “How many likes would this remark register?” But today we asked the editing team to take a break and meditated for 10 minutes: just my body, my breath, and a fake ocean sound.  Turns out me and all the voices in my head really enjoyed the quiet together.  And when I was done, the voice that wants to edit everything from the size of my eyebrows to the size of my calves was a little less demanding of revisions.
