Back to School for Girls in 15 Items

I believe in early fashion literacy.  And the best way to teach these youngsters to avoid one-to-one outfit pairings (ie one shirt shall always be paired with one pair of pants and nothing else) is the liberal application of wardrobe clusters: layering science, signature style compositions, color equations.  Your sweet tween will have mastered creative clothing strategy before her sneaker ever steps foot in the classroom.

Below a shopping list and theoretical application:

That’s more than two weeks of outfits, no repeats, with change left over for lunch money and fruity scented erasers.

What’s in your daughter’s back to school cluster?  Tell me in the comments.

Is your skirt from there as well? I spotted the tee and cardigan, but no skirt.

    Thanks,
    Jill

    Jill,

The skirt is from Anthro, by Eva Franco. But Shop & Apparel, carries some darling pencil skirts too.

This comment doesn’t have anything to do with your post…but, as a fellow pixie girl, I was wondering if you could tell me how you do your hair? Or what you tell your hairdresser to get that cut? Or maybe even a video tutorial on your hair routine? Thanks so much!!!

    Mary Katherine,

Ha ha 🙂 My husband actually cuts my hair. We start with a low side part (about halfway down the eyebrow). I keep the right side longer, and then trim everything else standard. No undercutting or anything special. I’ll definitely think about a hair routine video. That would be fun.

I love what I’m seeing. Well, it’s not like I’m going to hire an image consultant Singapore just for my kids, but I would love to have them help me think of a good outfit for them. This post is great and it really helped me a lot.

Such great back to school ideas! Will you be doing a post like this for 2017? I hope so!

Yes! I’m hoping to publish it this week. It’s focused on tweens this year 🙂
