Is there such a thing as a manly all white blessing outfit? I don’t think I’ve ever seen one. And anyway, the darling outfit you pictured is perfection.

Agree with Stephanie. Perhaps another hat? The outfit itself seems pretty middle-of-the-road gender-wise, but I see where Mr. Bagley could interpret Salem Witch Trial from the hat…hmmm…
Well, he IS a baby. I mean, a grown man would look mighty fruity wearing footed pajamas with a flap at the rear, but a baby looks perfectly darling wearing same. I think he just needs to see the hat on a real live baby, it does look odd in the photo but it will look cute on.
Just please, for the love of all that is holy don’t make your son wear a shiny polyester tuxedo for his blessing. Just don’t.
My only boy was my first child, and we went casual and comfy for his blessing and he wore a white velour sweatsuit kind of thing from Baby Gap. He looked gorgeous! (I may be biased.)
I agree with Stephanie and Amanda on this one (though I was more in Mr. Bagley’s camp when this issue first was addressed during your pregnancy). The outfit is perfect. I am not crazy about the hat, but that is personal preference.
All is adorable with the exception of the chapeau. My first thought when I saw the head covering: “Have they joined a small Amish colony?”
I love the outfit you chose. I can certainly hear Andrew saying that. It has “boy” bottoms versus the “dress” bottom you initially presented, so to me you have compromised rightly. I heart it!!
I have to say I’m on Mr. Bagley’s team here: too fairy. I’m imagining what the little guy will say when he’s 17 and one of his guy friends gets hold of his baby book…

Perhaps a newsboy cap instead of the hat in the picture would make this more masculine and less “Salem Witch Trials.” I like the article of clothing though. Very cute.
I love it lots. It is perfect for the little man, classic and charming. He will look adorable in it, and still quite manly. 🙂 I vote for the bonnet to be worn as well.

now if Andrew were to wear the outfit it would look silly, but for little Levi it’s perfect! He’s a baby, they are allowed to look cute and sweet because they are.

However, I agree with you that it is the perfect blessing outfit. Tell your husband it is also customary for girls *and* boys to wear long white dresses (usually a family one) so he should be grateful for what you chose!

I think it’s incredibly classic! Go for it. I’m Catholic and it’s completely customary and quite the norm to baptize infant boys in gowns. I think it’s lovely.
When it was time to bless our one and only boy, my dad offered to let us use grandad Bagley’s blessing gown.Let me tell you you it was frillier and had more lace than my girls’ blessing dress.It was gorgeous but both my husband and I vetoed it on principal. However, Grandad Bagley is perhaps the manliest man I know and being blessed in a gown did not seem to alter his manly persona in any way as he grew.I personally like the outfit you picked out.He’s a baby, it’s not like you can bless him in jeans, and please, as already requested, veto the tiny tux.Tacky.
Smocking makes my heart sing. Smocking is classic. Smocking and babies belong together – irregardless of gender.
My boy was blessed in something almost identical. My mother-in-law mentioned that she found it extremely feminine, and maybe it was – it did have a Peter Pan collar.
But, by golly, I’m the one who spent countless hours in unmedicated labor and so I got to decide. I think you should have the final say too.

i for one thing the whole outfit is adorable. like many others, i can see why the cap might be reminiscent of salem witch trial days….i have seen this style hat on little boys before, and it is SO much cuter on the head of a baby! i say yes about the whole outfit!!
I say fem him up! They are only able to pull off such sweet and simple outfits for a short, short time. You should see the outfits I put my boys in! Raw silk, anyone? My brother in-law wanted to kill me. 🙂
OK…this looks like the exact outfit we blessed my Lincoln in. Hubby wasnt thrilled, and the boy-bonnet was not worn in front of the other guys, just @ home for mama & a few pics. I think lil’boys are darling & let us have our sweet babies while we can. Soon enough they will be wearing filthy rags while digging trenches in the yard.I dont dare dress Linc…now 3 in white….ever. And the only bonnet he dons now is his dada’s old beanie.
