Pithy Title for your hybrid of Signature Style:
Classic:Modern & Funky:Feminine
Brief Narrative on your Personal Brand of Sartorial Fashion:
I feel my best when I am looking my best. I am a stay at home, mother of 3 boys (5,3, & 1)and I get “dressed up” everyday. I find that it is just as easy to put on a cute dress and boots as it is to put on a frumpy sweat-shirt and baggy jeans. So don’t be afraid to be bold and have some fun.
How old were you when you figured out your sense of style?
My style is constantly evolving and I am still trying to figure it all out. But I will say that I suppressed my natural curl until the age of 19. Then one day I decided to let it run wild and I unleashed my hair. I have never looked back and the curls are now a big part of who I am.
Who is your style icon?
Pamela (my mother). Frequently when I wanted to buy something my mom would say, “We don’t need to buy that Katie, I can make it for you” And then she would. She even made my wedding dress and I could not have been more thrilled. She taught me to be fearless and just go for it! My favorite pieces are ones I made for myself. Celebrity Icons I like : Audrey Tatou, Rachel Weisz, Garance Dore and these girls
What’s your best piece of fashion advice for women?
When I try something on I rank it from 1-10. If it’s not a 10, I don’t buy it. Even if it’s a really good bargain. Save your money and spend it one something you REALLY like and that is flattering on you. And tailoring something to fit you right can take it from a 6 to a 10. Pay attention to the silhouette.
Where do you shop when you want a bargain?
Consignment stores (ie Buffalo Exchange or Good Will) If it’s not a screaming deal I almost never get it. With a little creativity and the help of my trusty sewing machine I can alter, create or re-fashion anything to make it original and make it Katie. Most of these pictures are outfits that I have made for myself.
Where are your top 5 places to shop overall?
Second-hand (consignment, e-bay or Good Will), Target (what’s not to love about a place where I can buy diapers, wipes, mascara and a feminine ruffly top) DSW (no outfit is complete without the right pair of shoes) Fabric Depot (best fabric store in Portland, OR) and One of a kind Boutiques (great inspiration!)
What body issue do you dress around, and how?
Well, if you must know, I have a soft (delicious) core. I do my best to accentuate my neck, legs and arms. I have always found an umpire waist-line to be the most flattering. Fitted in the bust with a gradual flair down and outward.

I love that you covered Katie! She is one of those people that I know tons about and I’m not sure that she knows I exist…two of my dearest friends were roommates with her in college (I came on the scene later). Anyway, from all I have heard through the years (by way of Britt and D) and what I have seen (from her wedding video to her Puj creations) she is absolutely adorable and incredibly talented! I honestly can’t wait for my body to make a dang baby so I can buy her sling, shoes, and tub!

Katie stuff is really nice. Does Coco have any shoes yet? You could miss everything about the puj if you’re not paying attention. Didn’t click on it at first. Kiss Coco for me.

Here’s a girl who’s really found her “look”. I hope to do that before I’m 50.
And the dress in the top picture. She made that? I’m struggling to find one to go home for the holidays with and that dress is cute!
Great products! That tub is awesome! I’m interested in the sling, but it makes me a little nervous like the baby could fall. I love our Babybjorn, but man it would be nice to have a little fabric that could fold away!
Reachel Bagley, Stylist says
Kelly, I actually have the puj sling and there is no way even little Coco could fall out of it. It’s very snug and so much easier to tote around than my babybjorn.
Kelly says
Good to know, thanks!
